Abstract for CRPC TR 92-224-V "PIERS: The Movie", by Phil Keenan, Jon Flower and Roy Williams PIERS is a parallel fully implicit 3-D black oil reservoir simulator originally developed by Exxon Production Research for the Intel IPSC/2 Hypercube. It was designed as a research code for investigating the difficulties and challenges of parallel reservoir simulation. It has been extended to run on several other parallel computers including the Caltech DELTA machine, and a related Technical Report provides detailed timing information. This videotape contains an animated color graphics visualization of the 3-D oil and water fields obtained from running PIERS on a data set based on actual field measurements of porosity and permeability.
